Regi strants will receive a Zoom link shortly after registration.\n\nRegistrati on deadline: November 30\, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.\n\nResearch that finds ways t o apply scientific knowledge is becoming increasingly important. Neuroscie nce research projects investigate application methods in different ways\, depending on the fields and discipline. But can these projects solve pract ical issues? Do they have the potential to be implemented in the near futu re?\n \n In this webinar\, speakers specializing in research technology tran sfer will address these questions and provide insight to identify the key characteristics that can determine whether a research project has potentia l for application.\n\nSpeakers\n\nPatricia Silveira\n\nDr. Patricia Silvei ra is the scientific director of the Genomics and Epigenetics Pillar of th e Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics & Mental Health\, based at the Dougla s Research Centre\, and affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry at Mc Gill University.\n\nA pediatrician and neuroscientist\, Dr. Silveira’s res earch focuses on how perinatal and early-childhood environments interact w ith individual differences in biological processes\, shaping and modulatin g both health and disease risk across the lifespan\, into old age. Her aim is to identify how gene networks interact with environmental adversities early in life\, modifying endophenotypes (impulsivity\, sensitivity to rew ard\, executive function\, food choices) that ultimately affect healthy gr owth and neurodevelopment\, increasing an individual’s risk for developing chronic metabolic diseases and psychopathologies across their lifespan.\n \nChris Corkery\n\nChris Corkery has a BSc in Chemistry (University of Man itoba)\, an MSc in Polymer Chemistry (University of Winnipeg)\, a PhD in O ptical Physics (Australian National University)\, and held postdoctoral po sitions at Western University and 91ºÚÁÏÍø in Surface Materials. Since then\ , he has been involved with three start-ups (one failed\, one successful\, one didn’t get off the ground). Currently\, he works as Technology Transf er Manager in the Office of Innovations and Partnerships\, guiding researc hers towards successful commercialization of their inventions. As a certif ied PMP\, he also teaches two graduate courses annually\, helping students organize research projects and prepare manuscripts for publication.\n DTSTART:20211201T153000Z DTEND:20211201T170000Z SUMMARY:Webinar: Identifying practical applications in neuroscience researc h URL:/hbhl/channels/event/webinar-identifying-practical -applications-neuroscience-research-334469 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
