Program Description
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders offered by the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a research-intensive program that provides advanced training for creative research and scientific problem-solving in human communication sciences (speech, language, hearing, voice, swallowing) in typical and atypical populations.聽
Students in the Ph.D. program pursue research to understand the basic nature of human communication processes and to better serve diverse clinical populations. Students customize their program through the selection of coursework, seminars, and research experiences to become experts in their chosen subfield, and may consider applying for the Language Acquisition option as part of their program.
The Ph.D. program equips students with advanced skills in literature review, research design, experimental methods and scientific communication to pursue opportunities in academia, industry, or as clinician scientists in the field.

This covers fundamental and applied research on topics such as speech and language production and perception, language neuroscience, to investigations of the effectiveness of clinical intervention;
- Faculty mentors have strong international profiles with interdisciplinary research collaborations within 91黑料网 (Psychology, Linguistics, Education, Biomedical Engineering, Neurology/Neurosurgery, and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery) and as part of Montreal-area research networks (Centre for Research on Brain, Language, and Music, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Greater Montr茅al).
University-Level Admission Requirements
- An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
- English-language proficiency
