​This Tri-´¡²µ±ð²Ô³¦²âÌý(SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR) Funding Opportunity supports high-calibre Canadian graduate students in building global linkages and international networks through the pursuit of exceptional research experiences abroad.ÌýÌýSupplements are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this supplement, you must:

• be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of theÌýImmigration and Refugee Protection ActÌý(Canada)
• *have accepted or currently hold a master’s or doctoral award from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC (including a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship)
• begin your proposed research travel on or after the application deadline date
• not have held or be currently holding a Canada Graduate Scholarships – Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements (CGS-MSFSS)
• not hold a CRTAS-RTS more than once

• Note that you may apply more than once for a CRTAS-RTS if you were unsuccessful in previous competitions or declined a previous CRTAS-RTS offer.

How to Apply

• Instructions for completing the Ìýcan be found on theÌý web page
• Applicants complete the , and obtain all necessary signatures (current supervisor, host supervisor and institution).

NOTE: Graduate Program Director or Head of Department must sign for the institution to approve the travel.

• Applicants submit their completed application electronically using a secure submission site directly to the appropriate agency.

Should additional funding be available, the agencies may announce a second intake with a deadline of October 10.

Post-Award Information

If you have been awarded the above fellowship, please request payment by forwarding a copy of your award notice and a copy of your travel documents to graduatefunding.gps [at] mcgill.ca

Post-award requirements

Upon receiving a CRTAS-RTS offer from one of the agencies, recipients are expected to abide by the terms and conditions of the award.

To hold a supplement, award holders must:

• accept the terms and conditions of the supplement as set out in the notice of award (including attachments) and in the supplement program description

• hold an active master’s or doctoral award and be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of theÌýImmigration and Refugee Protection ActÌý(Canada) and comply with all the terms and conditions attached to that award

• be registered in a graduate studies program at an eligible institution

• comply with theÌýÌýand with the policies and guidelines regarding animal care and biohazards

• comply with the policies outlined in theÌý

• acknowledge, wherever possible, the funding assistance of CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC for the research travel

• take up the supplement within one year of receiving the notice of award for the CRTAS-RTS

• return to complete their degree at the institution where they currently hold an active master’s or doctoral award

• submit an activity report to the agency (see Reporting requirements)

Reporting requirements

Within two months of completing your research travel, you must submit an activity report to the agency (maximum two pages). The report must include:

• the activities carried out and results achieved

• any ongoing activities resulting from the research travel, such as joint publications or the development of new techniques

• any unanticipated benefits derived from working at, or attending, the host institution in relation to your current research objectives

• any problems encountered during the research travel

• the start and end dates of your research travel

• confirmation from your current master’s or doctoral award supervisor that they have reviewed the report (either with a signature in the report or an email confirmation)
