Description:ÌýÌý

You have little or no knowledge of French? This course will help you learn the basics of French, both spoken and written.

You will learn to communicate in a French-speaking environment, write short texts, and read about various aspects of Francophone cultures.


FRSL 208

  • Course Title: Intensive Elementary French.Ìý
  • 6 credits - (4 x 140-minute classes per week MTWT)
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Term: Summer
  • Level:ÌýElementary
  • Prerequisite: Placement test
  • Not open to students who took French at Grade 12 level in Canada, FRSL 207 or have equivalent training

Description :ÌýÌý

Do you have a basic knowledge of French and want to prepare to communicate in everyday situations? This course will help you review and practice basic French structures to improve your communication, while also developing your digital skills.

You will learn French through concrete tasks based on authentic materials related to Canadian culture. In class, you will mainly take part in interactive and communicative activities, often supported by technology (mobile apps, blogs, and other online tools).

You will explore topics that are relevant to your personal, social, or academic life.

  • Course Title:ÌýOral and Written French 1 - Intensive.
  • 6 credits - (4 x 140-minute classes per week MTWT)
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Term: Summer
  • Level:ÌýIntermediate
  • Prerequisite:ÌýPlacement test or FRSL 207
  • Not open to students from Quebec and students who took FRSL 211

Do you have a basic knowledge of French and want to review grammar fundamentals, improve your listening skills, and expand your vocabulary? This course will help you do just that.

You will read a variety of texts, give oral presentations, and take part in group discussions. Language lab work will also be included in the course to help strengthen your oral skills.

  • Course Title: Oral and Written French 1 - Intensive.
  • 6 credits - (4 x 140-minute classes per week MTWT)
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Term: Summer
  • Level:ÌýIntermediate 2
  • Prerequisite:ÌýPlacement test or FRSL 215Ìý(precedence given to these students)
  • Not open to students who took FRSL 321Ìý

Do you have an intermediate or advanced level of French and want to improve your speaking and writing skills? This course will help you do just that.

You will take part in discussions and presentations, read literary and cultural texts, and review specific grammar points related to the texts and genres studied. A methodological component is built into the assignments and further developed through several in-class workshops.
