The spaces that students traver se are integral to their identities\, who they are\, and who they might be come (Dimitriadis\, 2001).\n\nTo create an educational environment equippe d to support the overlapping but also unique needs of students with minori ties and marginalized identities\, educators must be committed to understa nding themselves as well as their students both inside and outside of the classroom.\n\nThis discussion will focus on steps to advance equity and im prove school climate using multi-tiered framework.\n\nDr. Tamika La Salle- Finley\n Associate Professor at Georgia State University\n Director of the C enter of Research on School Climate\n\nDr. LaSalle-Finley is an associate professor Georgia State University and the Director of the Center of Resea rch on School Climate. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Internat ional Journal of School & Educational Psychology.\n\nDr. LaSalle-Finley’s research focuses on the intersection of cultural factors and student perce ptions of school climate and interventions and supports to improve educati onal outcomes for students with marginalized identities.
