Less under stood is how local knowledge and work arrangements shape early instantiati ons of such technologies. These issues are particularly salient in the con text of healthcare\, where resources are constrained\, and AI is increasin gly being seen as a promising solution. Thus\, the research question this study aims to answer is: How do local expertise arrangements influence the development of AI solutions for complex coordinated work in healthcare?\n \nThis proposal outlines a six-chapter dissertation research monograph bas ed on an ongoing qualitative field study of two intertwined phenomena: Ope rating Room (OR) scheduling- a complex\, ongoing coordinated achievement t hat unfolds in hospitals across multiple expert groups\, and AI developmen t- a complex one-time process of constructing an expert system based on em erging technology in an organization\, to be used by that organization loc ally. My field setting consists of two specialty hospitals in the same cit y\, part of the same public healthcare system\, facing similar challenges with OR scheduling\, partnering with the same technology developer\, attem pting to develop locally customized AI solutions based on the same early-s tage prototype.\n DTSTART:20240514T220000Z DTEND:20240514T233000Z SUMMARY:PhD Research Proposal Presentation: Anand Bhardwaj URL:/desautels/channels/event/phd-research-proposal-pr esentation-anand-bhardwaj-357305 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
