Patrick Augustin on European finance, talent and the case for financial literacy

Patrick Augustin, Associate Professor of Finance at Desautels and Director of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Luxembourg Centre for Finance (MLCF), recently joined Serge Weyland, CEO of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), on the RTL Luxembourg podcast The Lisa Burke Show to discuss the future of European finance, talent and financial literacy.Ìý

Augustin highlighted the critical role of talent in the financial industry and the thinking behind the MLCF, a joint initiative between 91ºÚÁÏÍøÂ University, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL), and ALFI. He spoke to the flagship offering of the Centre, the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Master of Management in Finance (MMF) in Luxembourg, a two-year, part-time program that gives students hands-on experience managing a real, regulated fund through Desautels Capital Management.Ìý

Augustin also shared insights from a joint ALFI/91ºÚÁÏÍø study on Europe's productive capital gap, noting that European households hold a disproportionate share of their savings in cash, and calling for mandatory personal finance education starting at an early age to help close the gap.Ìý
