Les panélistes Minnie Grey\, ancienne directrice générale de la Régie régiona le de la santé et des services sociaux du Nunavik\, Natasha MacDonald\, pr ofesseure adjointe au département d’études intégrées en éducation de l’Uni versité 91ºÚÁÏÍø\, et Alicia Aragutak\, diplômée du programme Certificat en gestion des services de santé et des services sociaux et actuelle secrétai re générale de Makivvik\, présenteront leurs points de vue particuliers su r la vérité et la réconciliation dans le système d’éducation postsecondair e\, et examineront comment ces principes sont abordés\, mis en Å“uvre et vé cus dans les milieux universitaires.\n\nParticipez sur Zoom\n\nPanélistes :\n\n\n Minnie Grey\n\n \n Minnie Grey has worked actively throughout her car eer to improve the quality of life for Inuit in Nunavik\, Canada and inter nationally.\n\n Born in Kangirsuk\, Nunavik\, she served as third vice-pres ident of the Makivik Corporation\, the official organization representing the Inuit of Nunavik\, where she focused on self-government and community and economic development.\n\n After leaving Makivik\, Ms. Grey became Vice- President of the Canada office of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference for six years. She also chaired the Nunavik Education Task Force. From l99l to 20 00\, she was the Executive Director for the Ungava Hospital and Chairperso n of the Nunavik Nutrition and Health Committee.\n\n For two years\, from 2 000 to 2002\, Ms. Grey served as Executive Director of the Nunavik Regiona l Board of Health and Social Services\, and was appointed to the Inuit Gov erning Committee under the National Aboriginal Health Organization. She le d the implementation of the Tapiriilirniq process\, an initiative by the N unavik Regional Board of Health to address the issue of suicide\, and from 2003 – 2005 was a member of the Institute of Aboriginal Health within the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. She is a former member of the Can adian Council of Learning\, as well as an UN Advisory Group to the Inuit C ircumpolar Conference and the Board of Nasivvik (a centre for Inuit Health and Changing Environment) under Laval University.\n\n She is on the Circum polar Inuit Health Steering Committee for ICC for the past 13 years. Since 2002 she was lead negotiator for ten years for the work on the creation o f a Nunavik self-government. She was Chair for the Nunavik Regional Partne rship Committee which was created to address social issues in the Nunavik communities.\n\n She is a National Aboriginal Achievement Award Recipient f or 2012 in the Public Service Category\, and again in June of the same yea r received the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Award for Advancement of Regional I ssues in Nunavik. In December of 2012\, Ms Grey received the Queen’s Jubil ee medal from the office of the Governor General. She has the title of Che valier having received the Order of Quebec in June 2013. Was Special visit or to the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Institute for Studies of Canada – 2012-2013 academic year .\n\n She became member of the Order of Canada in 2017. Was given a medal o f honor by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la je unesse for their 40 year anniversary.\n\n More recently in 2022\, she recei ved an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Montreal.\n\n Since Januar y 2013\, Minnie held the position of Executive Director of the Nunavik Reg ional Board of Health and Social Services\, until her recent retirement in July 2022.\n \n\n Natasha MacDonald\n\n \n Natasha Ita MacDonald is Inuit\, o riginally from Nunavik\, and is an Assistant Professor in the Department o f Integrated Studies in Education at 91ºÚÁÏÍø. There she contribu tes to the academic landscape with a keen focus on decolonizing systems an d advancing intercultural communication in Indigenous education and health .\n\n Currently pursuing her PhD at Concordia University\, Natasha is deepl y engaged in research at the intersection of education and Indigenous know ledge\, employing Indigenous research methodologies to explore innovative approaches to pedagogy and healthcare.\n\n Her work underscores the importa nce of culturally responsive practices in academic and healthcare settings \, contributing significantly to the ongoing dialogue surrounding Indigeno us issues in Canada.\n \n\n Alicia Aragutak\n\n \n Born and raised in Umiujaq\ , and now residing in Kuujjuaq\, Alicia Aragutak currently serves as the C orporate Secretary for Makivvik\, elected in February of 2022. Her journey with Makivvik began as the founding president of the Qarjuit Youth Counci l\, an organization dedicated to the betterment of Nunavik's youth. In thi s capacity\, she not only orchestrated initiatives that brought together I nuit youth and elders across all fourteen Nunavik communities\, shaping th e narrative of Inuit identity and community well-being but also laid the f oundation for the organization.\n\n This commitment earned her the prestigi ous 2020 Indspire Inuit Youth Award\, marking her as the first Inuk in Nun avik to be honored in this category. In May 2024\, Alicia was awarded the Meritorious Service Decorations (Civil Division) to recognize her remarkab le contributions in many different fields of endeavour\, from advocacy ini tiatives and health care services\, to research and humanitarian efforts. \n\n Beyond her professional achievements\, Alicia Aragutak is a devoted mo ther of two daughters\, balancing the responsibilities of leadership\, adv ocacy\, and motherhood.
