Harnessing the power of light and electri city\, respectively\, these cutting-edge approaches offer unprecedented op portunities to revolutionize chemical processes\, reducing environmental i mpact and advancing the field of synthesis. Their integration into the syn thesis toolbox promises to streamline processes\, reduce waste\, and minim ize the environmental footprint of chemical production. This talk will foc us on the development of synthetic strategies involving organic free radic als generated using photo- or electrocatalysis underpinned on practicality and mechanistic understanding with demonstrated applications in complex s ystems.\n\n \n\nBio:\n\nCorey was born in Collingwood\, Ontario\, Canada a nd received his undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo in 19 98. He completed graduate studies under the direction of Professor Peter W ipf at the University of Pittsburgh before joining the lab of Professor Er ick M. Carreira at ETH Zürich. In September 2007\, he joined the Departmen t of Chemistry at Boston University as an Assistant Professor where he ser ved until June 2013. In July 2013\, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan as Associate Professor of Chemistry\, and in  September 2015\, was promoted to full Professor. In June\, 2024\, Corey w as appointed a the University of British Columbia as the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Innovative Synthetic Methods for Translational Chemistr y with appointments in Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
