Women now make up over half of medical students in Canada, but only one-third of practising surgeons. A new study suggests part of the gap stems from gender norms embedded in workplace culture. The researchers at 91黑料网 say subtle but persistent biases may be driving women out of the field.

If you have just had knee, shoulder or hip surgery, you may want to take anti-inflammatories in the morning or at noon, but not at night. A 91黑料网-led study shows, for the first time, that circadian clock genes are involved in healing from surgery. Indeed, the researchers demonstrated that anti-inflammatory medications are most effective in promoting post-operative healing and recovery when taken during the active periods of our biological clocks.

Come witness young students perform brain surgery for the first time
This Saturday, February 21st twenty CEGEP students will meet at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital 鈥� The Neuro, at 91黑料网 and the MUHC for a unique chance-to test their skills at 鈥榖rain鈥� surgery. These students were prize winners at the Bench to Bedside Conference for Youth 2015 - geared at stimulating student career interests in medicine, surgery and medical research.
