Andrew Hon, Frédéric-Alexandre Michaud, and Will Myers are the first successful candidates in the inaugural round of the Program to Support Graduate Conducting Students in the Study and Performance of Music by Composers from Underrepresented Groups. This a 3-year pilot initiative is acollaboration between the Schulich School of Music, the Marvin Duchow Music Library and its Gertrude Whitley Performance Library.

Professor Sean Ferguson has been appointed as the next Dean of the Schulich School of Music. Prof. Ferguson’s five-year, renewable term will begin on July 1, 2022, and end June 30, 2027.

Prof. Ferguson is an experienced senior administrator with a deep understanding of the Schulich School of Music, having previously served as Dean from 2011 to 2016. Prior to this, he was Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) from 2009-2011, and its Associate Director (Artistic) from 2006-09.

Congratulations to mezzo-sopranos Rose Naggar-Tremblay (BMus’17) and Simone McIntosh (MMus'17, Wirth Vocal Prize Winner 2016-2017), who received first and second place respectively at the 82nd OSM Competition! In anticipation of the fifth edition of the Wirth Vocal Prize, we caught up with previous winners. In this article, we speak with Anna-Sophie Neher, winner of the2017-2018 edition of the Wirth Vocal Prize, to hear about what life has been like since winning the Prize.

Mezzo-soprano Simone McIntosh (MMus ‘17) won the second annual Wirth Vocal Prize in 2017. Born in Vancouver, McIntosh first received her Bachelor of Music in Opera from the University of British Columbia, and later completed her Master of Music here at Schulich with Dominique Labelle.

Schulich organ students Stephen Boda and Helen Tucker won first and second prize in the Royal Canadian College of Organists National competition in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in conjunction with the Winnipeg Organ Festival. They are students of Hans-Ola Ericsson.
