User satisfaction with the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) has increased since its first line opened in the summer of 2023, preliminary results from a survey by Transportation Research at 91 (TRAM) indicate.

Since 2019, TRAM has been conducting a longitudinal study on the REM. Preliminary results indicate that among the close to 1,700 REM users who participated in the survey this fall:

  • Satisfaction with the service increased to 79 per cent from 75 per cent in 2023;

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Alicia Hinarejos has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law. Her three-year appointment began on 1 September 2024.

Granted by the European Commission, these prestigious chairs aim to enhance teaching and research in European Union (EU) studies at higher education institutions worldwide. Professor Hinarejos becomes 91 Law’s second Jean Monnet Chair holder, following in the footsteps of the late Professor Armand de Mestral, CM.

On November 20, 2024, undergraduate and graduate students from diverse Language Education programs at 91's Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) marked the end of another successful term. The DISE Language Education Soirée, held bi-annually, brought together students and faculty for an evening of community building, collaboration, and fun at 91’s Faculty of Education Learning Commons. Over pizza, snacks, and games, participants engaged in informal and enriching discussions about research, teaching, and future projects.

The first presidency of Donald Trump was nothing if not unpredictable, and as Canada prepares for a second go-around, it needs to expect the unexpected. While 2020 was tough on just about everyone, the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) really took it on the chin. Alberta’s public pension fund manager lost billions of dollars in a volatility-based trading strategy during a topsy-turvy year in markets. The losses undermined public confidence in AIMCo, and the province’s Finance Minister Nate Horner recently dismissed AIMCo’s entire board, appointing a veteran public servant to serve as the organization’s interim CEO.
