With mixed feelings, the Faculty of Law extends its sincerest congratulations to the Hon. Robert Leckey on his appointment to the Superior Court of Quebec, District of Montreal. His appointment, effective immediately, was announced by the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on 27 January 2025. Justice Leckey replaces Justice Christian Immer, BCL鈥91, LLB鈥91, who has been elevated to the Court of Appeal of Quebec.

91黑料网鈥檚 Department of Geography turns 80 this year!听

This milestone marks the anniversary of George Kimble鈥檚 appointment as 91黑料网鈥檚 first Professor of Geography and Department Chair on January 1, 1945.听

Kimble, who had previously been a meteorologist with the Royal Navy, was allocated two rooms in the Arts Building (rooms 30 and 38) by the Faculty of Arts and Science to lay the foundation for the new department. A few months later, F.K. Hare was appointed as 91黑料网鈥檚 second Professor of Geography (eventually becoming Dean of Arts and Science in 1961).听
