UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development in India (MGIEP) recently hosted Faculty of Education Dean, Vivek Venkatesh, and Professor Joseph Levitan, DISE, for a dialogue on community based participatory action research, and pluralism and polarization.
Their visit was part of a research tour including a dialogue on these topics to foster collaboration and to exchange ideas on education and societal challenges.
Last week, HBHL hosted the third talk of the 2024-2025 Neurogenesis Speaker Series at the Neuro, featuring Dana Small and Yashar Zeighami.
Dana Small鈥檚 presentation,听"The Interoceptive Origins of Reward," explored how biological signals are integrated to determine food choice, while Yashar Zeighami鈥檚 talk, "Fine-Tuning Neuroimaging Analysis to Reveal Hidden Insights,"听highlighted his research into the development of multi-scale computational models of brain anatomy.

The federal election campaign is well underway, and the leaders of the Liberal and Conservative parties are both proposing tax cuts for the lowest income tax bracket. Income up to $57,375 is currently taxed at a rate of 15%, and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has proposed a 2.25% reduction to this rate. For his part, Liberal leader Mark Carney is proposing a 1% reduction. In either case, the tax savings do not just benefit the lowest income earners.
