The winners of the 2025 Fessenden Professorship Awards and Tomlinson Science Awards have been announced.

TheFessenden Professorship in Science and Innovation Award, named after Canadian electrical engineer Reginald Aubrey Fessenden, was established in 2007 to accelerate the validation and technology transfer of promising concepts in the early- or mid-stages of development and bring them closer to a commercial product and market.

Please be advised there will be a ventilation shutdown at the McLennan Library Building and at the Redpath Library Building on Tuesday April 15 until Thursday April 17 which will run each day from 7h00 until 15h00 and will affect both buildings.This shutdown is necessary to repair the ventilation pipes in the building. Fresh air will flow in both buildings. Please note that it may be a little cooler during day while work is being done. The heating will be back online in late afternoon.

91 researchers have developed an AI-powered method to verify the origin of honey, ensuring that what’s on the label matches what’s in the jar. The breakthrough offers a potential solution to a long-standing problem.

“Honey is one of the most fraud-prone commodities in global trade. It often involves mislabelling where it was produced or the types of flowers that bees collected nectar from,” said lead author Stéphane Bayen, Associate Professor and Chair of 91’s Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry.
