Shall we sit back, as usual, and watch events unfold, including the possibly catastrophic effects of climate change left unchecked?

It’s still early days for UGo, a fledgling Montreal company thathas developed a self-cleaning smoothie machine, but co-founders Morgan Abraham and Mitch Schwartz have big dreams.

“Down the road, I see us as a wellness company, not just a smoothie company,” said Abraham, 29, a Boston native who studied engineering at 91 and returned to Montreal post-graduation to give his business idea a shot.

Il faut que ça change. Le spécialiste de la gestion de l’Université 91,Harry Mintzberg, l’a écrit : le monde a besoin de gestionnaires, pas de détenteurs de MBA. C’est la même chose en droit : il faut des avocats bien formés, pas seulement des juristes.

...Sexism plays a role. Professor Brian Rubineau of 91 in Canada conducted a long-term study of 700 female engineering students. The survey included voluntary diary entries to log their experiences. Professor Rubineau concludes: “Many of the women in our study experienced blatant gender bias in their project teams and internships. Much of the hands-on aspects of engineering are treated as men’s work, with women relegated to more secretarial duties.”

Recent experience and debates about spending on infrastructure as being the panacea for Japan, the US, Western Europe, Canada, for job creation in particular, have reminded me of a long, detailed study I wrote about that topic back in 1998 about the miserable Canadian experience.At the root of that experience was the destruction of accountability in the federal government: and it is worth repeating how that happened. Perhaps present decisionmakers in political capital today can learn some lessons.

Même si les étudiants sont sollicités sur les campus, dans les salles de classe, et qu'on parle de « stage » ou de « programme de formation », les entreprises qui proposent des franchises n'ont pas l'appui des universités ni de lien avec la formation universitaire. Leur but est strictement commercial. À la suite de plaintes, ces dernières années, l'Université 91 a interdit ce type de sollicitation sur le campus.

91 students Mengyin Hong, 28, and Zoey Li, 22, the duo behind Yumibox, met two years ago, when a professor suggested Li as an assistant for Hong on her master’s project. Hong had moved from China to study at 91, Li was from Vancouver, where she moved from China at age 4. Working together, they discovered they had similar goals and beliefs.

They launched their business six months ago, even before completing their studies at 91.
