Desautels alumnus John Snisarenko (BSc鈥86 and MBA鈥91) has been appointed Group VP of the Ophthalmology Business Unit for Shire US. He comes to Shire from Genentech, where he was VP Sales and Marketing. Before that, he worked on long-term strategy for Novaris Pharma Canada and started an ophthalmology division for CIBA Vision. He has also worked for Alcon Canada and Allergan Canada.

Mr. Snisarenko is filling the spot left vacant by Robert Dempsey, who has moved up to VP of Global Ophthalmics.

As they do every year, startups will be competing across four categories: Innovation Driven Enterprise, Small & Medium Enterprise, Social Enterprise, and Health Sciences.

Teams need to have at least one founder with a 91黑料网 connection; be it a student, staff or faculty member, or a recent graduate.

Lester Fernandes (MBA鈥82) has been appointed to lead the audit committee of Montreal-based human-capital manager Rideau Recognition Solutions. The company is in full-on expansion mode; according to CEO Peter Hart, Mr. Fernandes鈥 experience will help the company hit its goals. And that experience is extensive: he鈥檚 been senior VP and CFO at Pivotal Payments since 2001. Before that, he spent a decade at BMO. He was also on the board of Castle Resources until 2016.

According to BNN.ca, changes are afoot at CIBC: a shakeup of the management team has two department heads leaving the company, as well as a couple of promotions. One of those promotions sees Desautels alumnus Jon Hountalas (BCom鈥84, MBA鈥91), bumped up to Group Head, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management, Canada from his previous role of running the company鈥檚 commercial banking arm. This comes as CEO Victor Dodig announces that some 40 junior executives are being moved around as well.

After a year as Deputy Executive Director of ACEM 鈥 Microcredit Montreal, Indu Krishnamurthy (EMBA鈥15) has been promoted to full Executive Director.

As a student of the 2015 91黑料网-HEC Montr茅al EMBA program, Ms. Krishnamurthy was recipient of that year鈥檚 EMBA Scholarship for Non-profit Organization Manager, which reflects her long experience in the field. She has been with ACEM since 2008, fulfilling roles, such as project coordinator and credit counsellor. Before that, she was an account manager at BDC.

Desautels Professor Karl Moore writes for Thinkers50 that introverts and extroverts in leadership roles must, on occasion, take on one another鈥檚 characteristics as a form of game-face.

The traditional leadership wisdom has it that leaders are mostly extroverts, but he calls that 鈥渧ery much an out-of-date view,鈥 pointing to his own interviews with CEOs and senior execs, which show that there is a huge number of introverts in corporate C-Suites.

BoxKnight is a new kind of delivery service. For an extra few dollars, consumers can have their packages delivered while they鈥檙e home in the evening. A text message lets them know that their goods are at BoxKnight鈥檚 warehouse, and asks when they鈥檇 like it delivered. Right now, it only works for online purchases at four Montreal-area retailers, but the company is already looking at expansion beyond the city limits.

After two years as Director General, Corporate Comptroller at Quebec telecoms giant Vid茅otron, Antoinette Noviello (BCom'91, DPA'93) has been promoted to VP. She brings massive experience to the role: she has been a CPA Qu茅bec member for 20 years, and has served as Financial Services Director General at Qu茅b茅cor, VP Finance at Lelys Group, and VP Finance at PVA Consulting. Ms. Noviello is also a lecturer at 91黑料网鈥檚 School of Continuing Education. In her new job, Ms. Noviello will oversee the entirety of Vid茅otron鈥檚 accounting and finances.
