Dr. Bloom highlights the need for athletes to not only train their bodies but to also train their minds and be resilient in order to prepare for competition and performance. He further reiterates that this is an ongoing process; not a quick fix.

Dr. Gigi Luk of 91 Education's Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology has recently been involved in discussionswith the National Academy of Education (NAEd) in the U.S. regarding educational inequities during COVID-19. The NAEd recently published a reportexploring the effects ofschool disruption with regard to children's academic progress and social-emotional development as well as highlighting the more severe impact this disruption had on students in disadvantaged communities.

As principal investigator for the research being done inExercise and Nutrition to Support Skeletal Muscle Health Across the Lifespan, Dr.Churchward-Vennewill receive$344,957 from JELF; $344,957 matching provincial funds.

The Walter A. and K. Mary Marsh Fellowships in Education was established in 2009 by K. Mary Marsh in memory of her husband, Walter A. Marsh, for outstanding graduate students in the Faculty of Education. Awarded by the Faculty of Education to outstanding graduate students in the Faculty who have demonstrated leadership qualities. Preference is given to Master’s and Ph.D. students conducting research with a focus on teaching. Award value: $9,000.
