We enthusiastically announce the publication of聽Place and Performance in Ancient Greece, Rome, and China聽with Cambridge University Press in December 2024. It is the first volume in Cambridge鈥檚 new series聽Antiquity in Global Context.聽Profs. Griet Vankeerberghen and Hans Beck have edited this volume, and their long-standing collaboration was the foundation of the Global Antiquities cluster of the Yan P. Lin Centre, evolved and expanded into our Global Pasts Research Group.

Music has the best chance of providing pain relief when it is played at our natural rhythm, a 91黑料网 research team has discovered.

This suggests it may be possible to reduce a patient鈥檚 level of pain by using technology to take a piece of music someone likes and adjust the tempo to match their internal rhythm, the researchers said.

The discovery was the subject of a paper published this week in Pain, the top journal in the field of pain medicine and research.

The Department of Bioresource Engineering聽(BREE) enjoyed a visit last month from David Saint-Jacques, astronaut and Deputy Director, Lunar Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency, and BREE graduate Chris Patterson. They met with BREE undergrad and grad students who presented their projects, highlighting links between their research and bioregenerative life support system goals for extended space missions on the lunar surface and beyond in the near future.
