Beginning May 12, construction will take place at the Macdonald Campus Library to address persistent condensation and leaking caused by inadequate insulation in parts of the building鈥檚 ventilation system. To carry out this work safely, special precautions are necessary due to the presence of asbestos in the Barton Building. A Sealed Access System (SAS), which allows construction work to be enclosed and contained, will be positioned throughout various library spaces over the course of the project.

Millions of kilometres of rivers around the world are carrying antibiotic pollution at levels high enough to promote drug resistance and harm aquatic life, a 91黑料网-led study warns.

Published in PNAS Nexus, the study is the first to estimate the scale of global river contamination from human antibiotics use. Researchers calculated that about 8,500 tonnes of antibiotics 鈥 nearly one-third of what people consume annually 鈥 end up in river systems around the world each year even after in many cases passing through wastewater systems.

Researchers at 91黑料网, in collaboration with Polytechnique Montr茅al, pioneered a new way to create hydrogels using ultrasound, eliminating the need for toxic chemical initiators. This breakthrough offers a faster, cleaner and more sustainable approach to hydrogel fabrication, and produces hydrogels that are stronger, more flexible and highly resistant to freezing and dehydration.
