He was a delegate to\nthe Madrid Conference and ha s been a strong advocate for\nnon-violence since the 1980's. Sami is one o f the founding members\nof the Arab non‐violence movement\, which meets fo r one month each\nsummer in Beirut and has evolved into the first Arab Uni versity for\nNon Violence (AUNV). It aims to institutionalize the culture of\nnon‐violence in Lebanon and all the Middle East. Sami is the\nfounder of the first RBCP centre in the West Bank and wrote his\ndoctoral thesis a t 91's own School of Social Work on the\nimplementation of the RBCP mo del in Palestine. Today he is Dean of\nthe Faculty of Educational Sciences at An Najah National\nUniversity.\nVarsen holds a Ph.D. in Administrative & Policy\nStudies-Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently\ ,\nVarsen is the Director of PCAN\, and works as a freelance management\na nd policy consultant. She is a founding or active member of\nseveral NGOs and a member of the Board of Commissioners of the\nIndependent Palestinian Commission for Human Rights. Varsen's\nprevious experience includes: Mana ger of Capacity and Institution\nBuilding in the Office of the President\; Executive Director of Al\nQuds Capital of Arab Culture\; Director of Rese arch & Planning\nat the Welfare Association\; Associate Professor at Al-Qu ds\nUniversity\; Dean of Health Professions\; and Dean of Graduate\nStudie s.
