  Fall\nof Information Empires (Alfred A. Knopf: 2010). In The Master\nSwit
 ch\, Wu speaks of the cycle of monopolization that has beset the\ndevelopm
 ent of information technologies from the telegraph to the\ntelephone\, and
  finally\, the Internet. Referring to\ntelecommunications giant AT&T\, and
  more recently Apple\, Comcast\nand Google\, Wu identifies a cycle progres
 sing from an\nopenly-operated technology to one increasingly controlled by
 \ncorporations in a closed system. The talk is co-sponsored by\nMedia@McGi
 ll\, the AHCS Speaker\nSeries\, and the Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Tech
 nological\nLiteracy.\nTimothy Wu is a Professor at Columbia Law School whe
 re he\nteaches copyright and communication. He is a 91ºÚÁÏÍø\nalu
 m\, having received his Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of\nScience in 
 1995\, and a graduate of Harvard Law School. Wu is best\nknown for his con
 tribution to Net Neutrality\ntheory.\n
