While many students make\nup the majority of treeplante rs during the summer\, many others have\nno idea what this dirty\, gritty job entails. Tyler hopes to provide\nsome insight into this truly Canadian occupation through this\npresentation.\n\nTyler Palov grew up in the East ern Townships of Quebec\, an hour and\na half south-east of Montreal. He c ompleted his Bachelor’s Degree\nin International Development Studies at Mc Gill University. After\nworking for several years in Central America\, Tyl er has returned to\n91 to undertake his Masters in Integrated Water re source\nManagement.\n\n\nItem 2: Jane Morrison\nGulf of Mexico Oil Spill\n \nThe oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico has been described as the “worst\nenv ironmental disaster in US history”. This presentation will\nprovide the cl ass with a brief overview of the BP oil spill which\nflowed for three mont hs in 2010\; discussing the cause of the spill\nand providing the class wi th facts about the leak. The presentation\nwill also highlight remediation efforts and impacts of the\nspill.\n\nJane Morrison is from southern Onta rio. She completed her Bachelor\nof Engineering at 91 in 2008 and has recently returned to carry\nout a Master of Science in the Integrated Wate r Resources\nManagement Program. Having family in Louisiana\, Jane visits the\nGulf of Mexico often. Curiosity and concern as to impacts the oil\nsp ill will have on her family members is what lead Jane to choose\nthis topi c.\n\n\nItem 3: Keith Dias\nGas Phase Reactions of Au with Polar Molecules \n\nClusters are finite aggregates of atoms and molecules\, possessing\nun ique physical and chemical properties\, allowing cluster science\nto be di stinguished from molecular physics and condensed matter\nphysics. Clusters also serve as bridges between disciplines.\nCluster science plays an impo rtant role in the speedy progress of\nnanotechnology.\n\nKeith Dias’s educ ational background is in Physical Chemistry\, he\ncompleted his M.S. in th e U.S. where he worked on Cluster Science:\nStudying reactions of metal io ns with polar molecules in the gas\nphase using a mass spectrometer.\nKeit h has also worked as a research associate on the aforementioned\nproject. \nCurrently\, a Ph.D. student at 91 in the BREE dept\, Keith is\nworki ng on plant proteomics.\n\n\nItem 4: Pansa Liplap\nAmazing Thailand\n\nTha iland is country located on the heart of Southeast Asia. With a\nwondrous kingdom\, a tropical climate\, fascinating culture\, exotic\nwildlife\, an d spectacular islands\, Thailand is a magnet for\ntravelers the world over .\n\nPansa Liplap is from Thailand. He completed his BEng and MEng in\nagr icultural and food engineering. After a few years of work\, he\nobtained a scholarship to pursue PhD studies in the Department of\nBioresource Engin eering at 91.\n\n\nItem 5: Alaba Boluwade\nThe Yoruba Tribe of Nigeria: Culture and Customs\n\nThe culture and customs of a major eth nic tribe in Nigeria called\nthe “Yoruba” is presented. Details are\ngiven to describe these costumes which are a great example of an\nancient tradi tion still surviving today.\n\nAlaba Boluwade obtained his MSc (2010) in G eospatial Technologies\,\nInstitute of Geoinformatics\, University of Muen ster\, Germany\,\nUniversity of Juame I\, Spain and University of New Lisb on\, Portugal\nwith a scholarship from the European Union. His work was fo cused on\nHydrologic modeling and Uncertainty Analysis. Prior to this\, he had\nworked in consultancy and several educational institutions after\nob taining his BEng (1997-98) and MSc (2003) degrees from\,\nrespectively\, t he Faculty of Engineering\, Universities of Ilorin\nand Ibadan\, Nigeria. Currently\, Boluwade works towards a PhD degree\nin the areas of Spatial H eterogeneity the supervision of Prof.\nMadramootoo.\n DTSTART:20110217T150000Z DTEND:20110217T163000Z LOCATION:Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:BIORESOURCE ENGINEERING SENIOR SEMINAR URL:/channels/event/bioresource-engineering-senior-sem inar-171759 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
