 n the fore.\n\nJonathan Karp is Director of the American Jewish Historical
  Society\nin New York City. He is also an Associate Professor in the Judai
 c\nStudies and History Departments at Binghamton University\, SUNY. His\nb
 ook The Politics of Jewish Commerce in Europe\, 1638-1848 was\npublished b
 y Cambridge University Press in 2008. Karp has written\non a range of subj
 ects in intellectual and cultural history\,\nincluding articles on Paul Ro
 beson and Bob Dylan. He is currently\ncompleting a book on economic and cu
 ltural relations between Blacks\nand Jews.\n
