DESCRIPTION:The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund at 91ºÚÁÏÍø is hosting a\nw
 eek long photography exhibit featuring the work of prominent\nCanadian pho
 tographer Jo-Anne McArthur.\nThe photos are drawn from her current project
 \, We\nAnimals\, which documents animals in the human environment\n(www.we
 animals.org).\nMcArthur has travelled to over 40 countries photographing t
 he\nrealities of bullfighting\, poaching in Africa\, factory farming\,\nwh
 aling\, bear bile farming in Asia\, vivisection labs in North\nAmerica and
  many more. The goal of 'We Animals'\, McArthur notes\,\n'has been to phot
 ograph animals in a way that breaks down the\nbarriers humans have built t
 hat allow us to treat them as objects\nrather than as sentient beings.'\nM
 cArthur captures human interactions with animals in a way that\nallows the
  viewer to find new meaning in unnoticed situations of\nuse\, abuse and sh
 aring of spaces. Her unique talent brings\nawareness to animal issues in p
 owerful ways. McArthur's stunning\nwork has appeared in publications such 
 as ELLE Canada\, Canadian\nLiving Magazine\, and the New York Times.\nAn e
 xclusive evening with the famed\nphotographer open to all students and fac
 ulty\, as well as select\nmembers of the public is planned for March 10\, 
 2010 at\n7:45pm in the Atrium of the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Faculty of Law. Several\nof Jo
 -Anne's pieces will be up for sale\, ethical food and drinks\nwill be prov
 ided\, and raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to\nwin gift certifica
 tes to Montreal vegetarian restaurants and a free\nphoto/portrait shoot wi
 th McArthur in Toronto. Proceeds raised this\nevening will go to the Anima
 l Legal Defense Fund\, the Montreal\nSPCA\, and the Fauna Foundation.\nThi
 s event is part of 'WE ANIMALS: 91ºÚÁÏÍø Symposium &\nExhibit on Animal Law.
