DESCRIPTION:Prof. Séverine Mathieu received her PhD in\nsociology from Univ
 ersité Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and she is an\nassociate professor of soci
 al science at the École Pratique des\nHautes Études (EPHE\, Paris). Beside
 s her research on AIDS\, medical\nexperimentation and ethics\, she works o
 n themes related to mixed\ncouples and judaïsm.\nOver the last three years
 \, she has participated the REDCo (6th\nPCRDT) program\, a European survey
  about religion in school\, with\nthe participation of eight countries\, u
 nder the direction of\nWolfram Weisse (University of Hamburg). She was res
 ponsible for the\nFrench qualitative survey among more than one hundred pu
 pils.\nAt the EPHE\, she teaches methodology to master students and\nlectu
 res on 19th - 20th century medicine and religion. In addition\nto many art
 icles on these topics\, in\, she published a book with\nJean Bauberot\, Re
 ligion\, modernité et Culture en France et au\nRoyaume Uni. 1800-1914 (Seu
 il\, Paris\, 2002). She also worked\nwith Jean-Paul Willaime on Des maître
 s et des dieux\n(Edition Belin\, Paris\, 2005) and La transmission du juda
 ïsme\ndans les couples mixtes (Editions de l'Atelier\, Paris\,\n2009).\nTh
 e lecture will be introduced by Professor Shauna Van\nPraagh.\n
