 ornithological collections\, palm leaf manuscripts\, Kashmiri\nlacquer and
  bible boxes are largely the result of the personal\ncollecting of Casey W
 ood. Come join us as we uncover the gems of an\navid collector with a part
 icular passion for birds. Born in\nWellington\, Ontario in 1856\, Casey Wo
 od was educated in Ottawa\, at\nBishop's and 91ºÚÁÏÍø Universities\, with fu
 rther studies in Berlin\,\nVienna\, Paris and London. He was a widely know
 n ophthalmologist\,\nornithologist\, prolific author\, translator\, editor
 \, bibliophile\,\nand traveller. The Library was fortunate to have this ma
 gnanimous\ndonor as a friend. Casey Wood maintained his ties to 91ºÚÁÏÍø and
 \nbestowed his magnificent collections on the University. The\ntreasures o
 n display are drawn from the holdings of Rare Books and\nSpecial Collectio
 ns\, the Osler\nLibrary of the History of Medicine\, the Redpath Museum an
 d the\nFaculty of Medicine.\n
