 ucation.\nAbstract:\nTeaching in an immersion program brings with it some 
 specific\nchallenges\, such as how to teach content like science or geogra
 phy\nand focus on language at the same time. “We understand now that\nit’s
  actually very difficult to do\,” says Dr Roy Lyster\, a\nProfessor in the
  Department of Integrated Studies in Education at\n91şÚÁĎÍř. While many teac
 hers do resort to separating language\nteaching from content teaching\, th
 e research shows that it’s more\neffective for language learners if the tw
 o are integrated. Lyster\nhas been studying the different ways that teache
 rs can and do\nmanage to integrate lessons. “One of the things I have been
  looking\nat is how teachers interact with students while they are present
 ing\ntheir lessons\,” he says. “Specifically how they provide corrective\n
 feedback to students so that while the students are talking about\ncontent
 \, teachers are still able to give them information about\nlanguage that d
 oesn’t necessarily interrupt the flow.” Dr Lyster’s\nlecture will present 
 some of his research findings and try to\nanswer some of the questions par
 ents and teachers may have about\nbilingual education. “Ideas are evolving
  about how language can be\ntaught through content\,” says Lyster. “Educat
 ion is a field where\nwe always have to look at making it better.”\n
