Pound\, OC\, OQ\, QC\, LLD\, became the\n17th Chancellor of 91ºÚÁÏÍø\, having previously served as\nChair of its Board of Go vernors. As a member of the International\nOlympic Committee (IOC) since 1 978 and former Chairman of the World\nAnti-Doping Agency\, Richard (Dick) Pound has a lengthy and\ndistinguished sports administration career.\nOver the course of his Olympic involvement\, Pound has been\ninvolved in virtu ally every aspect of the Olympic Games. He is a\nlongtime Executive Board member and Vice-President of the IOC\,\nwhere he was responsible for all O lympic television negotiations\,\nmarketing and sponsorships. He also has participated in numerous\nOlympic commissions as a chairman or member\, in cluding commissions\non eligibility\, the study of the Olympics\, and the coordination of\nthe Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.\nOn the national front\, Pound has played an active role with the\nCanadian Olympic Committee\, ser ving as Secretary General\n(1968-1976) and President (1977-1982) as well a s deputy chef de\nmission of the Canadian Olympic delegation for the Munic h 1972\nOlympic Games. He also supported Vancouver’s bid for the 2010 Game s\nas a director of the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation.\nAn accomplished a thlete in his own right\, Pound has won numerous\naccolades for his swimmi ng achievements. He was a double Olympic\nfinalist at the 1960 Summer Game s in Rome and won four medals (one\ngold\, two silver\, one bronze) at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in\nPerth\, Australia. In addition\, he won sever al Canadian national\nswimming titles (1958 to 1962)\, which formed the ba sis of his\nmembership to the Canadian Swimming Hall of Fame and the Canad ian\nAmateur Athletic Hall of Fame.
