 The theme of the congress\, Vers de nouveaux sommets\, looks toward the ex
 citing discoveries and novel research of today and tomorrow\, while acknow
 ledging the pioneering and innovative work of the past – a nod to annivers
 ary celebrations around Montreal’s 375th and Canada’s 150th. \n\nAcfas is 
 a Quebec-based non-profit organization promoting science in all discipline
 s\, including humanities and social sciences\, as well as interdisciplinar
 y research. Its annual congress brings together some 5\,000 or more French
 -speaking researchers from around the globe – indeed it is the largest Fre
 nch-language activity of its kind in the world.\n
