Besse scores four but Redmen falter in Lennoxville
听
LENNOXVILLE, Que. -听 All-Canadian attackman Mike Dub茅 exploded for seven goals and Brett听Conway's power-play goal with 5:46 remaining proved to be the difference as Bishop's outlasted 91黑料网 13-12 to win a see-saw battle in men's university lacrosse at Lennoxville, Thursday. The game was played听 in steady rain at Coulter Field.
Ryan Besse scored four goals and Alex Kruse netted a hat-trick to go along with a pair of assists in a losing cause for the Redmen, who dropped to 2-1 in CUFLA East Division while Bishop's jumped into sole possession of first place at 3-0.
In what proved to be a classic Bishop's-91黑料网 showdown, the lead changed times throughout the contest and the game was tied at 2-2, 6-6, 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10.
A normally solid Redmen defence struggled throughout the contest, especially after losing starting rearguard Kyle Robinson to a knee injury in the second quarter when Bishop's went up 6-3.听听 91黑料网 stormed back, however, with unanswered goals from Noah Miller of Burlington, VT., 听Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont., and defenceman Dave Hogarth of Toronto, to knot the game at 6-6.
The game was then tied 8-8 at halftime and 10-10 after three quarters.
91黑料网 went ahead 12-10 in the fourth quarter on goals by Besse and Alex Kruse but a costly offside penalty allowed Conway to narrow the gap to 12-11. Dub茅 then tallied the tying marker.
While 91黑料网's offence netted a pair of late goals, they ran out of time.
Rounding out the scoring for 91黑料网 was Brandon McLean (2), Noah Miller (2) and Dave Hogarth.听 Jishan Sharples was credited with four assists.
Senior goalie Guy Fox played the whole game for 91黑料网 and was saddled with the loss.
The Redmen will head down Highway 401 to play the Toronto Varsiy Blues on Sunday.
