We received num erous submissions of an exceptional quality from scholars and junior pract itioners from 13 countries\, including Argentina\, Australia\, Austria\, C anada\, Germany\, Haiti\, India\, Ireland\, Italy\, Kenya\, Spain\, the Un ited Kingdom and the United States.\n\nFirst Prize: Shahal Khoso (Pakistan i PhD candidate in Political Science\, Universitat Pompeu Fabra\, Barcelon a\, Spain) – $5\,000\n “Postcolonial Federalism: Tracing Colonial State-For mation in the Global South”\n For its original and ground-breaking argument challenging Western-centric approaches to federalism\, through a skillful comparative and historical angle.\n \n\nSecond Prize: Arnaud Hoste and As hley Saad (LLM candidates\, 91şÚÁĎÍř\, Montreal\, Canada) – $3\,0 00\n “Canadian Federalism and Environmental Protection: What Makes it Work (or Not!)”\n For its important insights into a complex and relevant area of Canadian federalism\, supported by a rich diversity of sources.\n \n\nThi rd Prize: Nadine Dahou and Anne-FrĂ©dĂ©rique Naud (MA candidates in Applied Political Studies\, UniversitĂ© de Sherbrooke\, Canada) – $1\,000\n “The Evo lution of Intergovernmental Relations in Immigration: Cooperative Federali sm in Canada and Australia”\n For its skillful comparative approach to a cr ucial issue facing federal states\, supported by a profound analysis of se condary sources.\n \n\nSpecial Mention from the Jury: Andreas Samartzis (G reek PhD candidate in Law\, University of Cambridge\, United Kingdom)\n “Ju dicial Supremacy in the European Federal Union”\n For its novel perspective and instructive overview of theoretical approaches to the legitimacy of j udicial power in this complex polity.\n \n\nSpecial Mention from the Jury:  Olivier Jacques (Assistant Professor in Public Health\, UniversitĂ© de Mon trĂ©al\, Canada)\n “RĂ©gler le dĂ©sĂ©quilibre fiscal ?
