 eurs projets\n\n1) Timiebi Aganaba\n	Overcoming the danger of a 'single sto
 ry' of space actors: The power of narratives in framing law and approaches
  to law can never be underestimated! As such\, the 'single story' of who c
 an engage in outer space activities is damaging to aspirational and emergi
 ng space actors. Can a new conceptual lens inspired by third world approac
 hes to international law (twail) minimize the danger of a 'single story'? 
 The CAIL approach presented in this talk is situAted within this attempt.
 \n	2) Alexandra Pasca \n	Portraits du juge et de l'avocat civilistes dans la
  culture populaire: Mon projet de recherche porte sur l’évolution du rôle 
 des juges et des avocats civilistes\, en particulier dans le contexte des 
 réformes récentes du système judiciaire québécois. Ma thèse est que la fon
 ction symbolique de l’avocat et du juge – prêtres de la justice – s’est ér
 odée au 21e siècle\, laissant place à des fonctions administrative et tran
 sactionnelle qui trouvent écho notamment dans la culture populaire (films 
 et littérature). Je m'interroge non seulement sur la culture populaire com
 me miroir du droit\, mais également quant à son impact sur la pratique du 
 droit\, voire sur la redéfinition même de la fonction des avocats et des j
 uges dans la société contemporaine.\n	3) Alexander Ezenagu\n	From Double Tax
 ation to Non-taxation: why developing countries are still under-developed:
  Tax treaties are the primary means by which countries cooperate to avoid 
 double taxation and counter tax evasion\, but they have also become a cent
 ral means for multinationals to avoid taxation on a global basis. I seek t
 o analyze the strengths and weaknesses of these tax conventions and standa
 rds as they affect developing countries\, in order to assess the efficacy 
 and viability of harmonization mechanisms\, whether developed by the OECD 
 or otherwise\n	4) Eliza Bateman\n	Snake oil salesmen for a new millennium? A
  federal Bill before US Congress proposes to ban LGBTQ conversion therapie
 s. This would make unlawful all clinical interventions to change sexual or
 ientation\, on the basis that to offer this change constitutes therapeutic
  fraud. This is religion and psychology going head to head on the question
  of biology versus choice in sexuality and equality versus religious freed
 om rights. Who will blink first? \n	5) Bradley Por\n	First Peoples' blockade
 s enacting law across Canada: On the unceded lands of BC\, and all across 
 Canada\, First Peoples' have formed blockades to stop development on their
  territories\, to which they claim Aboriginal title. unable to wait for ti
 tle claims to be proven in court while their lands are being accessed and 
 developed without consent\, First Peoples' at blockades are securing and p
 rotecting their territories and enacting their own Indigenous laws.\n
