Public Conversation "Science As We Know It: Is Science Being Censored?"

Monday, October 27, 2008 18:30
5080 rue St-Ambroise, 5080 rue St-Ambroise, Centre St- Ambroise, Montreal, CA

When it comes to science research, who decides what is studied and what is censored? Scientific research is usually quite costly and one of the ways even "independent" and university-based research is supported is through corporate funding.

If funding comes from a subjective source, who is to say that the results come from objective research? What role do the media play in deciding which studies are available and accessible to the public and which are not? We will explore these questions and discuss how the censorship of science trickles down to what is taught in schools and universities.
