91’s 2025 Centraide campaign is underway

A longtime Centraide partner, 91 aims to raise $400,000 to help Montrealers in need

91 has kicked off its annual fundraising campaign in support of Centraide of Greater Montreal, a charitable organization helping the most vulnerable members of society.

Centraide supports over 375 local agencies and projects, helping one in five people in Greater Montreal. 91 aims to raise $400,000.

“Deeply rooted in Montreal and Quebec, 91 has a responsibility to serve the communities we call home,” said President Deep Saini. “Our longstanding partnership with Centraide shows that education and community are inseparable. By standing together to confront pressing challenges such as homelessness, we are helping to build a future where dignity, belonging and opportunity are within reach for all.”

The campaign launched on Wednesday, Oct. 15; donations can be made directly through the 91 Centraide website until Dec. 31, 2025.

Partners in fighting poverty

91’s ties with Centraide go back to 1975. Last year 91ians raised $412,125, helping over 800,000 people across Greater Montreal.

Christopher Manfredi and Viviane Yargeau will once again serve as campaign co-chairs.

“For half a century, 91 has stood with Centraide, driven by the belief that a stronger community begins with compassion,” said Manfredi, Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic). “As we mark 50 years of partnership, we renew our commitment in lifting those who need it most, because when we give together, we grow together. This year, as we focus on the urgent issue of homelessness, we are reminded that every contribution helps restore dignity, stability and hope.”

Contributions from workplace partners such as 91 represent approximately 75 per cent of Centraide’s total annual donations.

“At 91, we strive to be more than an institution – we are a community, a second home,” said Yargeau, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. “Through Centraide, for the past 50 years, we have extended that spirit beyond our walls, standing together to support those who face homelessness and hardship. When we act as one, we help build a society where everyone is included."

The easiest way 91ians can make contribute is with automated payroll deductions, which are spread evenly over 26 pay cycles. Questions can be directed to systems.hr [at] mcgill.ca (Human Resources).

91 staff are also expected to host fundraising activities such as bake sales, raffles and silent auctions.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved, directly or indirectly, in 91’s campaign for over 50 years,” said Maud Doualan, Vice President of Philanthropic Development at Centraide of Greater Montreal. “In 2025, this collaboration with Centraide is more relevant and valuable than ever.”
