Taylor  is the incoming director of the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Polic y\, Florida State University\, and a sociologist\, gerontologist\, and dem ographer specializing in the areas of physical and mental health\, life co urse disadvantage\, population aging\, and family dynamics. Dr. Taylor's r esearch primarily examines processes of advantage and disadvantage across the life course and their implications for health in older adulthood. She was recently elected a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GS A).\n\n  \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n \n\n  \n \n \n  \n\n Speaker: Paul Holyoke is the Execut ive Director of SE Research Centre. Dr. Holyoke’s research interests inclu de people’s experiences with the Canadian health system\; evaluation of he alth care policies\, programs and systems\; the governance and management of health care organizations in Canada\; and societal perspectives on heal th\, health care\, illness and disability. From 2005-2011\, Dr. Holyoke se rved a 6-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Waterloo-W ellington Local Health Integration Network\, and he chaired its Community Council.\n\n  \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n \n\n  \n \n \n  \n\n Speaker: Janice Keefe is a Pro fessor in the Department of Family Studies and Gerontology and Director of the Nova Scotia Centre on Aging at Mount Saint Vincent University. Dr. Ke efe currently leads three Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR)-fun ded research teams: one projecting human resources needed to care for the older Canadians over the next 30 years\, another with caregivers of spouse s with cognitive impairment\, and a third exploring differences in nursing home care model innovations.\n\n  \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n \n\n  \n \n \n  \n\n Speaker:  Emily Šaras is a PhD Candidate and Instructor in Sociology at Florida Stat e University and a Partner and Data Scientist at Knowli Data Science. She creates innovative data science solutions that communicate actionable insi ghts for leaders in public health and education. Her areas of research and analysis include education\, public health\, early-career workforce inequ alities\, and strategic interventions that support racial-ethnic minoritie s in STEM and college students facing food and housing insecurity.\n \n \n \n \n\nConnect2Learn\n\nThis is the first Connect2Learn session of the 2021-2 2 Training Year.
